Shirley Phillips is an Associate Professor of Aviation at Daniel Webster College. She has taught all of the undergraduate courses in aviation flight operations at the College, as well as human factors in aviation. She also lends her expertise to the online MBA for Aviation Professionals program as Program Director.

She holds Airline Transport Pilot and Flight Instructor certificates and is type rated in the Airbus A320. Prof. Phillips has close to 4000 hours of flight time and was a FAA designated pilot examiner. She was previously a ground and simulator instructor for a major air carrier.

Prof. Phillips earned a doctorate in Physical Therapy from Simmons College in Boston and combines her experience in aviation and medicine to teach and conduct research in areas related to human factors in aviation. Prof. Phillips completed her undergraduate education at the University of New Hampshire and her masters at the University of North Carolina. She has published numerous articles in aviation trade magazines including AOPA Pilot, Flight Training, and Aviation for Women.
